For CARE Deutschland Luxemburg the inclusion of Luxembourg into the CARE family in November 2007 meant an important expansion of its potential of actions.
As a reaction to its rapid growth CARE DL assembled a new management structure as of September 24, 2011. CARE DL is now managed by a salaried Board comprised of two people: The current National Director Dr. Anton Markmiller is now Secretary General and CEO. Karin Kortmann, former parliamentary State Secretary of the federal ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), was elected as Deputy Secretary General. She has been part of the former voluntary Board of CARE Germany-Luxemburg since 2004.
The annual General Assembly of CARE Deutschland-Luxemburg remains the highest decision-making and supervisory body. It elected a supervisory board with nine members and an executive committee. “CARE will always be defined by voluntary and honorary positions. But in order to achieve our goals and oversee our projects, CARE is in need of a salaried, full-time board”, said Scharrenbroich after his election as honorary president of the organization.
With Dr. Anton Markmiller and Karin Kortmann, CARE will be led by two experts in the field of development politics. Thus the organization is well positioned to responsibly use our funds for future challenges. “CARE will always be defined by voluntary and honorary positions. CARE Deutschland Luxemburg's goals
CARE Deutschland-Luxemburg will continue intensifying its worldwide emergency and disaster relief work. Within the framework of reducing poverty, we want to increasingly support girls and women as the moving forces in development. Likewise, the (educational) policy work as advocate of the underprivileged and minorities will remain an important element of our efforts.
