Foundation of CARE International with seat in Brussels. Currently, twelve national independent CARE organizations coordinate their worldwide activities through the general secretariat: USA (1945), Canada (1946), Germany (1980), Norway (1980), France (1983), Great Britain (1985), Austria (1986), Australia (1987), Japan (1987), Denmark (1988), the Netherlands (2001) and Thailand (2003).
1986
On the occasion of the 40th anniversary, Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker paid tribute to the CARE support for Germany as a “living memorial to active humanity”.
November 1990
CARE Deutschland, STERN and ZDF bring into being the concerted “Help Russia” campaign. The response of the German population is overwhelming. Within a short time, CARE receives 138 million marks in donations.
1992
“Choirs for CARE”: The German Choral Association (DSB) enters into a partnership with CARE Deutschland. In the following years, many of the 20,000 associated choirs perform for the benefit of CARE projects.

CARE is renamed “Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere”

On the occasion of CARE’s 50th anniversary, Eberhard Diepgen, Governing Mayor of Berlin, holds a reception in the Red Town Hall. The German post issues a special stamp “50 years of CARE”.
1996
“CARE parcels for peace”: Relief campaign in favour of Bosnia-Herzegovina in commemoration of the first CARE parcels received in Germany on 15 July 1945. Ceremonies take place in the cities of Bremen and Munich.

Foundation of the „Deutsche CARE-Stiftung – Hilfe für Menschen in Not“ (German CARE Foundation – Relief for People in Need“
1998/99
In the context of the anniversary “50 Jahre Luftbrücke” (50 years since the airlift) the city of Berlin carries out for CARE the campaign “Berlin sagt Danke” (Berlin Says Thank You) for children and youth projects in South Africa and Bulgaria.
1999
For its aid in Russia, CARE Deutschland is publicly honoured by Boris Yeltsin, the Russian President.
2000
CARE Deutschland, being the oldest CARE organization after USA and Canada, celebrates its 20th anniversary.
2004
In order to underline its image of itself as part of the international CARE relief organization and the global movement for overcoming poverty and need, CARE Deutschland changes its name to CARE International Deutschland e.V.
2005
CARE International Deutschland e.V. celebrates its 25th anniversary, among others, with a major ceremony in the House of History in Bonn.
2005/06
The international CARE relief organization and, at the same time, the CARE parcel as a symbol for the help from man to man become 60 years old.
2007
On 1 November 2007, CARE International Deutschland e.V. is renamed CARE Deutschland-Luxemburg e.V.
