CARE DL- International Emergency Relief and Fight Against Poverty

Within CARE International (CI), CARE DL, as a relief organization anchored in Germany, concentrates on the fields of emergency relief and the fight against poverty. By taking this position, CARE DL specifically supports the mission of CARE International to work worldwide as a “partner of the poor” and a “partner in the fight against poverty”.
 
Emergency relief abroad is a focal point of Care DL’s activities. Such emergency relief comprises immediate relief in the event of disaster and the follow-up recovery support. CARE DL has the intention to strengthen and expand this focus and to constantly improve the foothold that CARE DL has in the field of emergency relief.
 
The fight against poverty as a part of the development cooperation is another one of CARE DL’s central field of activities which are implemented independently and over and above emergency relief. Within the scope of the fight against poverty, CARE DL focuses on the support for girls and women. Another field of work is the support of socially excluded minorities.
 
Helping people to help themselves and "empowerment" are the methodological bases by means of which CARE DL carries out its projects for fighting poverty. The overriding goal lies in improving the structures in a society in favour of the poor.
 
After World War II, the CARE parcel gave mainly in Germany people hope that they could overcome want and deprivation and to gather courage to make a new start. Therefore, the CARE parcel is the central identification feature of CARE DL. The name CARE (to care, to take care of the people), in Germany symbolized by the CARE parcel, transports the vision and mission of CARE International.
